The Cape Fear Civil War Shipwreck Discontiguous District is a short distance offshore, making it possible to go SCUBA diving and explore 21 sunken vessels, which date back to the Civil War era.

Surf lessons are available through the Tony Silvagni Surf School, kayaks and paddle boards can be rented through Paddle NC or Pleasure Island Rentals, and bikes are available from Shore Break Bikes, so there are a variety of activities to keep people of all ages entertained.
